🐾 Picture Me Home

Creativity • Compassion • Community

Picture Me Home is a Breakthrough Crew community service project created in partnership with the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Through Picture Me Home, our Crew members use their creativity to help shine a spotlight on animals waiting for their forever homes.

Using shelter-approved photographs and information about each animal, Crew members create one-of-a-kind mixed-media portraits inspired by the animal's personality and story. Each piece is designed to help people see more than a shelter photo—to notice the personality, character and special qualities of the animal behind it.

🎨 Our Crew Gives Back

Our Crew members volunteer their time, talents, and creative efforts to create artwork and help bring additional attention to adoptable animals in our community.

They aren't simply creating art. They're using their creativity to help a deserving animal get noticed and, hopefully, one step closer to finding a forever home. ❤️

🐶 One Animal. One Artist. One Story.

Each Picture Me Home project begins with an animal currently waiting for placement at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Our Crew members learn about the animal, identify the qualities that make them special, and transform their photograph and story into an original piece of mixed-media artwork.

Finished pieces may be shared to help introduce the animal to more people while also celebrating the Crew artist who volunteered their creativity to help tell that animal's story.
